I am thrilled to be the principal of Village Elementary this year. I have been in the education business for more than 13 years at a variety of levels: high school and middle school teacher, instructional coach, educational consultant and most recently Dean of Students. I am a proud graduate of some of our amazing local colleges and universities earning a BA in history and education, an MA in History, and an MA in educational administration. I am fortunate to have a wonderful husband and exuberant daughter who will be entering second grade this year.
My experience at all school levels has given me an appreciation of the importance of a positive elementary experience for our children. The basic foundations of not only academics but also of character development, moral judgement and citizenship are shaped in these early years of formal education. At Village, we have a proud history of demonstrating our reason, responsibility, and respect throughout our school community. These are introduced to our junior kindergarteners and continue on through fourth grade. As a school we are “building a better Village, together” every day.
We cannot make this journey alone we need the partnership and support of our families. All of us working together will give us the best possible outcome for our children.
One of my favorite quotes about learning comes from Benjamin Franklin.
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”
I look forward to a year filled with learning, laughter and growth.
